Very interesting comment Dave.
My colleagues at Shard (where I still spend considerable time) are considerably younger than myself, but are some of the brightest folk I’ve worked with. However, they are all very much products of their generation.
Their market experience is largely post-2008 and thus they do believe in central banks having an unstated mission to stabilise markets.
They also seem better at reducing information to the critical points – presented in sound bite format
My own son – who is a digital marketing whizz – wants me to do soundbites on social media: 30 sec to 1 min to get my points accross.
However, that is my observations dealing with smart, motivated professionals in finance. Having been the “target” of some hilarious fanboy you-tube assaults over the years because of my negativity on things like Tesla, We-Work, Meme-Stocks, NTFs and Bitcoin – there is a certain amount of ill-educated, think-we-know financial thuggery underway on the influencer side of the market – paid celebs and influencers bigging up scams they know nothing about.
