This is an excellent piece, well worth a read, among the best :-)
One thing I would like to add, is energy uncertainty. As you know, the biggest economy of Yurop is currently struggling with fluctuations and the energy density of wind farms and solar parks. After shutting down the last 3 remaining Nukes, a year ago, electricity spot prices range from negative 100 to 7000€/MWh. Meanwhile usage has gone down about 7% in 2023 alone because Industry is relocating to where energy is cheaper (<0,10€/kWh) compared to Germany’s
19¢/kWh. Energy prices and uncertainty are a huge drag on Yuropean prosperity which will certainly play out to please the right wing in the next EU elections on June 9th.
